Ashe County wrapped up the spring sports season finishing fifth place in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup Standings. The Huskies earned a conference title in women’s track, a runner-up finish in women’s soccer and a third place finish in men’s track to highlight the spring season. Baseball camp scheduled for June 25
Varsity baseball coach Ronnie Pruitt will be hosting the annual Diamond Stars Baseball Camp at Ashe County High School next week. The camp will begin on June 25 and last through June 27. Public invited to comment on early migratory bird seasons
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is inviting public comments on the early waterfowl and webless migratory game bird hunting seasons. The seasons include dove, woodcock, rail, snipe and thos waterfowl seasons beginning before October 1. Input on extended falconry seasons for webless species will also be taken at this time. Josh Phipps, a West Wilkes graduate who has family ties to Ashe County, will have the chance to continue his football career at the collegiate level.
