Ashe County’s junior varsity baseball team ended the year on a high note with a 6-1 victory over West Wilkes on Monday. For the fifth straight season, the Ashe County women’s track team captured the Mountain Valley Conference Championship. The men’s and women’s track teams each grabbed first place in a meet held last Wednesday at Ashe County High School. Ashe’s men scored 105 points to take first place, well ahead of second place Wilkes Central (28 points) and third place West Wilkes (four points). On the women’s side, the scores were a bit closer, but Ashe placed first with 64 points. West Wilkes finished second with 44 points and Wilkes Central was third with 23 points. ...
