WJCC checkers tournament scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20

The inaugural West Jefferson Centennial Checkers Tournament is scheduled to take place this weekend.The tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Friendly Shoe Store at 13 N. Jefferson Ave. in West Jefferson. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. The cost of competing in the tournament is only $1.Each player will play every other player twice, according to Lynn Rees-Jones, event coordinator for the West Jefferson Centennial Commission. A win is good for four points and a draw earns a player two points.
