Earth Day celebration taking place at Ashe County Library

The Ashe County Public Library will be hosting an Earth Day celebration starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.At 4 p.m., the library will host a story walk outside, allowing children to walk and look at signs which consist of the story book’s pages. Following that, Jo and Scott Wohlfeld from the Wild Crafters will teach attendees how to build their own potato towers, helping grow food in a small space.“This is an efficient way to grow potatoes and if you have a small space this is a great way to garden and have potatoes,” said Peggy Bailey, youth services librarian. “It’s also supposed to be a way to produce a high yield.”

 

Lady Huskies top Starmount, 6-1

The Lady Huskies kept its dominant conference performances going last Thursday with a 6-1 victory over Starmount.Bekah Bowers had a tremendous first half, scoring both of the team’s goals in the opening 40 minutes.
