MIAMI, Fla — Western Carolina University senior Josh Wineberg added another impressive accomplishment to his ever-growing list on the gridiron, playing in the FCS National Bowl on Sunday.
The game, played at Florida International University in Miami, features some of the top players from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The players get a chance to play in front of NFL and CFL (Canadian Football League) scouts.
Wineberg was a four-year starter for the Catamounts after finishing up his terrific high school career at Ashe County High School. He played 45 games at right tackle and three games at left tackle during his career at WCU.
Wineberg collected second team All-Southern Conference accolades from both the head coaches and the voting media at the end of this past season. It was the second-straight season he was chosen as a second team All-SoCon player.
Only two SoCon players were chosen to play in the game. Samford defensive lineman Jose Casanova joined Wineberg in the contest.
This is the second year of the FCS National Bowl.
