WEST JEFFERSON — The annual Girls Got Game Basketball Camp at Ashe County High School is one month away and there’s still time to sign up for the three-day event.
The hoops camp is for rising first graders through rising eighth graders and will take place from 9 a.m. until noon each day, June 28-30. Players will be grouped together by age level for camp instruction.
Current and former players as well as head coach Laura Foster and her coaching staff will be on hand leading campers in numerous skill-development techniques and helping build the foundation of a strong, fundamental basketball player.
The purpose of the Girls Got Game Camp is to improve individual basketball skills while working hard and having fun.
Camp cost this year is $50 and a $20 non-refundable deposit is due by Friday, June 3. If you choose to register your child on the first day of camp, the cost is $60. The deposit will ensure that each camper gets a camp t-shirt in their desired shirt size. The remaining balance is due on the first day of camp.
On the final day of camp, trophies will be awarded to winners of four competitions: X-Out Lay-ups, Hot Shot, free throw shooting and dribbling competitions for the younger athletes.
This is the 15th year of the Girls Got Game camp.
Registration forms are available at each of the schools in the county.
