JEFFERSON — After last week’s state softball tournaments, it’s time for the baseball players to take the field.
The action won’t be as active in Ashe County as last week, however the 10U state championship tournament is set to get underway.
First round play starts on Thursday and lasts through the championship game set for Sunday afternoon.
Ashe County’s all-star team features players from three different county teams: Braves, Cubs and Astros. Players on the team are Gavin Eller, Riley Estes, Ethan Roten, Imri Walters, John David Lea, Cole Treva, Landon Treva, Brody Eller, Tayvn Trivett and Will Vannoy.
The 10U team is coached by head coach Jeremy Eller and assistant coaches Damon Eller, Beau Estes and Trent Trivett.
Ashe’s first game is set for Thursday, at 4 p.m. against Shelby. The winner will advance to play on Friday at 10 a.m. while the loser moves into the loser’s bracket and will play on Friday at noon.
All games will be played at Family Central on the Dr. Pepper field or the RC field.
