Hardin advances to state championship

ELKIN – Ashe County senior Sarah Hardin accomplished something no other golfer in ACHS history had ever been able to achieve. Hardin qualified for the state championship tournament for the fourth time in her outstanding career.

The senior finished eighth overall at the 1A/2A Central Regional at Cedarbrook Country Club, shooting a score of 88.

A pair of West Davidson teammates battled it out for the top spot. Rachael Mast shot a 74 to get the win, beating Olivia Sharpe by three strokes. Alyssa Cox of Mount Airy was third with a score of 79 while both Mallory Forbes of Forbush and Danielle Mirovich of Mt. Pleasant tied for fourth with an 82.

The Huskies had two other players in the regional tournament. Alexis Howell finished with a score of 116 and Madison Osborne finished with a score of 151.
