TBILISI, Georgia — Tommy Spagnolo is off and running in his second professional basketball season in Europe. The former Husky and App State Mountaineer opened the 2016-17 season with Energy Invest Rustavi in the Georgia Superleague with a pair of great performances.
In game one of the season on Oct. 15, Spagnolo led Rustavi to a 78-67 victory. All five starters reached double-figure scoring totals.
Spagnolo’s stat line of 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists were all team highs. He hit six of his 12 field goal attempts that included one make from beyond the three-point line.
Rustavi moved to 2-0 on Saturday with an 82-68 victory over Olimpi. Spagnolo led all players with 34 minutes of court time and poured in 21 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and collected two steals. He was 8-10 shooting from the floor, 1-1 from the three-point line and hit both of his free throw attempts.
Spagnolo and the rest of his teammates will return to action on Friday for the third regular season contest.
