WEST JEFFERSON — Trey Scott pulled off yet another impressive season as the club champion at Mountain Aire Golf Club.

Scott defeated Terry McGowan in the club championship on Oct. 9 with a five and four victory, meaning he held a five hole lead with only four holes left to play.

This is the fourth straight year that Scott has captured the championship and the seventh time in the previous nine years.

The club also handed out championships in four other divisions: Men’s Handicap Division, Senior Men’s Division, Senior Men’s Handicap Division, and the Ladies Division.

McGowan played well in this year’s senior competition edging out Jere Vodenicker for the Senior Men’s Championship.

JR Shatley was able to win the Men’s Handicap Division Championship over Edward Hinson in a very close 18-hole match that was won on the 16th hole.

The Senior Men’s Handicap Championship was taken home by Kevin Kurtz after a hard fought victory over Tony Miller.

Finally, the Ladies Championship was an 18-hole stroke play event and was won this year by Leigh Blevins.

The staff at Mountain Aire would like to congratulate all of the winners and thank everyone who competed during the 2016 season.
