Husky football schedule released

WEST JEFFERSON — The 2015 football season will officially get underway on Aug. 21 when the Huskies hit the road to North Surry, the first of an 11-game schedule.

Before the regular season starts, Ashe will participate in a pair of scrimmages, first on Aug. 12 at Surry Central and then at home on Aug. 14 with East Surry, Lincolnton and one other team to be announced participating.

Ashe will have three other non-conference games after the season opener. The Huskies host rival Watauga on Aug. 28, host Hibriten on Sept. 11 and go to Alexander Central on Sept. 18.

The Huskies will have four conference games at home and three conference games on the road.

The Mountain Valley Athletic Conference season starts with Ashe traveling to Sparta to take on Alleghany on Sept. 25.

After that, Ashe will host Wilkes Central and West Wilkes Oct. 2 and Oct. 9.

The Huskies wrap up its road portion of the schedule at East Wilkes on Oct. 16 and at North Wilkes on Oct. 23.

The regular season ends with two home games. The Huskies host Starmount on Oct. 30 and Elkin on Nov. 6 for Senior Night.

Homecoming festivities will take place during the West Wilkes home game.

All games will kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

The junior varsity schedule will feature all of the same teams except for Hibriten. The JV team will play 10 games.

All JV games start at 7 p.m.
