WEST JEFFERSON — The 2015 Ashe County High School volleyball season gets underway with a home match against the visiting Avery Vikings on Monday, Aug. 17.
The Lady Huskies will have six other non-conference games on the schedule. Ashe will host Alexander Central on Aug. 20 and host Mt. Airy on Aug. 25. The team will hit the road to Avery for the second match against the Vikings on Aug. 31.
The final three non-conference matches are scheduled for Sept. 14 at home against West Caldwell, Sept. 21 at home against Oak Hill Academy and a quick road trip to Lenoir to face West Caldwell on Sept. 28.
September opens with the beginning of Mountain Valley Athletic Conference matches. Ashe will go to Alleghany on Sept. 3 before having two home matches, first against Elkin (Sept. 8) and then Starmount (Sept. 10).
The next two conference matches will be in Wilkes County. Ashe goes to Wilkes Central on Sept. 15 and goes to East Wilkes on Sept. 17.
Ashe completes the first half of MVAC play with home matches against North Wilkes (Sept. 22) and West Wilkes (Sept. 24).
The Lady Huskies conclude the month with Alleghany making the trip to Ashe on Sept. 29.
October starts with road trips to Elkin (Oct. 1) and Starmount (Oct. 6) before home matches against Wilkes Central (Oct. 8) and East Wilkes (Oct. 13).
Regular season play ends with two road games. Ashe goes to North Wilkes on Oct. 15 and makes the short drive to Millers Creek to take on West Wilkes on Oct. 20
2A state playoffs begin on Oct. 24. NCHSAA Regionals begin Nov. 3 before the 2A State Champion is crowned on Nov. 7.
