BOONE — It appears the Mountaineers know where they will be headed for their inaugural bowl game.
As first reported by ESPN, Appalachian State has accepted a spot in the Camellia Bowl that will be played in Montgomery, Alabama on Dec. 19.
The Mountaineers will face an opponent from the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Their opponent will be announced on Sunday.
While Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson did not confirm the bowl selections, the Sun Belt has three guaranteed bowl tie ins and only currently three bowl-eligible teams.
Arkansas State (8-3) will be headed to the New Orleans Bowl as the Sun Belt Champion and Georgia Southern (9-2) will be going to the GoDaddy Bowl.
South Alabama and Georgia State will have a chance to earn a bowl bid with games this weekend. South Alabama will have to beat App State while Georgia State will have to knock off Georgia Southern.
