Retiring Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Rose was sworn in Monday night as West Jefferson’s new police chief. Rose has been on the job for about a month and plans to retire from the highway patrol later this year.

He was sworn in just prior to the West Jefferson Board of Aldermen meeting by Clerk of Court Pam Barlow, and accompanied by his wife, Becky, and son, Montana. Officers from the department and the town aldermen and mayor gathered around the new chief for the ceremony. Those present also sang “Happy Birthday” to the new chief for his birthday Feb. 7.
