Mr. James Russell “Russ” Stikes, age 81 of Sparta, NC died Monday, February 4, 2008 at his home. Mr. Stikes was born November 11, 1926 in Grayson County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hamm and Lockie Stike; his wife; Frankie Medley Stikes; a son; Willard Stikes; a grandson; Larry Evans Jr.; and a great-grandson, David White Jr.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reeves Jones and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial followed in the Poe Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7:00 n 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Stikes is survived by a daughter, Karen Fender and husband Robert of Laurel Springs, NC; a son, Jerry Stikes and wife Nancy of McGrady, NC; a step-son, Spencer Medley and wife Tracey of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Carrie Mullis, Mabel, Bonnie and Virginia Parsons, all of Sparta; a daughter-in-law, Lorrene Stike of Sparta, NC; a grandchild, Crystal Deleon; two great-grandchildren, Pepe and Rosie, all of the home; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
