Mr. W. R. Wood, age 80, of West Jefferson, passed away Monday night, March 31, 2008 at Segraves Nursing Care Center.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites by Rev. David Blackburn.
Mr. Wood was born in Ashe County on January 7, 1928 to the late Earl Wood and Stella Bare Wood. He retired from Sprague Electric where he worked as a Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cox Wood; a son, Craig Wood, of Laurenburg, NC; a daughter, Angie McNeill, of West Jefferson; a brother, Cecil Wood, of Bent Mountain, VA; four sisters, Mae Herman, of Rochester, NY, Ardna Trivette, of Deep Gap, Sylvia Hardin, of Pennsylvania and Shirley Sheets, of Jefferson; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survived.
