Mary Ruth Moretz Harless, 78, of Taubrook Pl., Lenoir, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2008.
She was born July 12, 1930 in Mountain City, Tenn. to the late Clayton Jeff Moretz and Martha Walsh Moretz. She was preceded in death by her sister Alma Moretz Eggers and brother-in-law Walter Eggers.
She is survived by her husband, Fred B. Harless, of the home; two sons, Roger G. Harless and wife Norma of Lenoir and Larry F. Harless and wife Ollie of West Jefferson; and a daughter, Sherri Y. Cruz and husband David of Virginia. She is also survived by: four grandchildren, Timothy Harless and Julianna Glass of Lenoir, Melissa G. Bolen and husband Blake of Colorado Springs, Co., and Michael Glass of Naples, Fla., all of whom she was very proud; two step-grandchildren, Christina Phillips and husband David of West Jefferson, Jane McNeill and husband Jon of Fleetwood; five step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Roberts of the home and Lizzie Miller and husband Burl of Lenoir; and a brother, Ira Moretz and wife Hazel of Connelly Springs. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was full of life and found joy in her family and friends and enjoyed being surrounded by them. She will be greatly missed.
A service honoring her life was held Wednesday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Clarence Widener and Dr. Steven Mathews. Interment was at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family received friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The family was located at 327 Taubrook Pl. for visitation before the day of the service.
Pendry’s Funeral Home & Crematory, Lenoir, assisted the family with arrangements.
