In the chase for the number one seed heading into the tournament, the Mountain Advantage team was paired against UPM this past Tuesday for a second round game of the Ashe County Parks and Recreation Men’s Industrial Softball league. Mountain Advantage entered the game with a 8-1 record, sitting in second place behind the unbeaten Dr Pepper team. UPM had sole possession of fourth place with a 3-5 record.

A victory by UPM would have given them the opportunity to tie for third place in the league heading into the tournament, but the victory by Mountain Advantage knocked them out of the running for third place by handing them their sixth loss of the season.

Mountain Advantage remained in the hunt for first place with the 10-0 victory over UPM in six innings Tuesday evening.

Mountain Advantage opened the scoring up in the second inning with two runs, then added four runs in the third inning to pull ahead 6-0. The game concluded with Mountain Advantage scoring three runs in the sixth inning, combining with one run in the fifth to end the game with Mountain Advantage winning 10-0.

The victory kept Mountain Advantage in the hunt for first place as they moved their record to 8-1 on the season. They squared up with the currently ranked first Dr Pepper team on Thursday evening. With a victory, Mountain Advantage would take over first place for the time being. With a loss to Dr Pepper, Mountain Advantage brings the Dirty South Fishing Team closer to the second place seeding. Look for results of Thursday’s games in Tuesday’s edition of the Jefferson Post.
