The Third Annual Ola Belle Reed Homecoming Festival will take place August 15-17 in Lansing, highlighting Old-Time, Blue Grass and folk music traditions.

Workshops: Saturday at Old Lansing School

12pm Banjo- David Reed

David Reed will present a workshop in the claw hammer banjo style of his mother, Ola Belle Reed.

1pm Voices and Harmony: DJ and Randy Sheets.

The Sheets Family workshop will concentrate on singing, featuring songs by Ola Belle Reed. The workshop participants will be introduced to lead and harmony vocal parts and will sing these songs together during of the workshop

2pm Songwriting: Si Kahn

This is a workshop for those who write songs and/or people who are interested in the process of songwriting. Bring your questions and Si will do his best to answer them. He will also talk about his own experiences as a songwriter. Please note that this workshop is about the art and craft of songwriting, not about the business end of songwriting such as copy writing or pitching your songs.

3:30pm Guitar: Steve Lewis

Steve Lewis, Banjo and/or Guitar champion of the Walnut Valley Nationals, Merlefest, Renofest, the Galax (Virginia) Old Time Fiddlers' Convention and the Wayne C. Henderson Guitar Competition, will demonstrate traditional flat-picking guitar techniques.

4:30pm Mandolin and Fiddle n Scott Freeman, winner of the only Wayne Henderson Mandolin Competition, will discuss the fundamentals of bluegrass mandolin and fiddle techniques.
