The victory moved to 6-4-1 on the season with a 4-0 victory over Oak Hill.
Goal scorers for Ashe include Lalo Montoya, Jose Zapata, Saul Carias, and sophomore Alex Vogl.
The game was dominated by Ashe’s defense as they rocketed 34 shots towards the Oak Hill goal, with little defensive pressure from the Warriors. However, Oak Hill stood strong, as they endured 15 corner kicks, and only allowed four goals off of the 34 shots by Ashe.
Defensively, the Huskies saw little pressure from the Warriors’ offense, with Evan Love recording a shutout in the net for the Huskies. Love had only four saves in the 80-minute match for Ashe.
The Huskies returned to action Wednesday night against Forbush (results were unavailable at press time), and will return to action next week with two home games. The Huskies look to avenge their first loss of the season, which came from the hands of the West Wilkes Blackhawks, with a home game next Monday. Varsity team kickoff is at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, the Huskies journey back into their tough MVAC schedule when they host the Wilkes Central Eagles. Despite only having five teams this year, the MVAC is still one of the toughest conferences in the NCHSAA 2A Division. The JV teams will kickoff action at 5 p.m. on next Wednesday against Wilkes Central, and then varsity will take the field for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Eagles.
