Jan Stamper Brooks, age 77, of Valley Drive, Wilkesboro, widow of Paul Smith Brooks, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Genesis Elder Care Center in Mooresville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Benton Jefferson Trawick officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 7 at Ashley Chapel Cemetery in Warrensville.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Saltville, VA on July 22, 1931, to Grover Cleveland and Bessie Ashley Stamper. She was retired from Wilkes General Hospital, where she was a nursing assistant. Mrs. Brooks was a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by one daughter, Debbie B. Stroud and husband, Doug, of Hickory; one son, David William Brooks, II and wife, Lynn, of Troutman; two sisters, Rose Schisler of Atlanta, GA, and Francis Landsell of Orlando, FL; one brother, Clifford Stamper of Warrensville; three grandchildren, Tyler Brooks of Chapel Hill, Angie Hubbard of Granite Falls, and Paul Stroud of Hickory; two great grandchildren, Morgan Ashley Hubbard and Mason Walker Hubbard both of Granite Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes, 1908 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
