John Rufus Little, age 79, of Warrensville, passed away on Saturday night, November 8, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Tester and the Rev. Chuck Call officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 11 a.m. at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m., three hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Mr. Little was born in Ashe County on November 11, 1928 to the late Jake Cyrus and Hettie Mae Sutherland Little. John was well known as the owner of Little’s Apple Orchard Farm in Warrensville and enjoyed working in apples.

Mr. Little was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Richardson Little and one brother, Herman Little.

He is survived by one son, Tommy Little and wife, Percilla, of Warrensville; one daughter, Debbie Sexton and husband, Terry, of Warrensville; two brothers, Paul Little of Boone, Jack Little of Little River, SC; one sister-in-law, Grace Little of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Dawn Goodman and husband, Jason, of Warrensville, and Catherine Sexton of Warrensville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
