The annual Spring Youth Trout Derby, hosted by Ashe County Parks and Recreation, will take place on April 2 from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.

There is a limit of three trout per person, and both bait and rods will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

For the first 50 fishermen who arrive at the event, free biscuits will be provided for breakfast to start off the day of fishing.

There are three age groups of competition this year, including the six years and under group, seven through 11 years old, as well as 12 through 18 years of age.

Sponsors for this year’s event are Buffalo Hunting and Fishing, Wal-Mart, Bojangles, and Mountain Outfitter.

For more information on the event, contact Ashe Parks and Recreation at (336) 982-6185.
