Ashe County's veterans were recognized Friday morning during the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Ashe County Courthouse. Performed by the Ashe County High School JROTC, the program included an address from Lt. Col. (R) John Marsh who also played “Taps” on the bugle, with prayers, wreath laying on the memorial, and firing salute to the local veterans by the cadet corps.

Despite cold, breezy conditions, a good-sized crowd attended the ceremony to show their support and appreciation for veterans on this special day. The tribute honored veterans from American Legion Posts 171 and 275, VFW Post 7946, DAV Chapter 80, UDC Ashe County Chapter, 1450th Transportation Company, North Carolina National Guard, National Guard Auxiliary, and all veterans of military service.
