According to Trooper Will Miller with N.C. Highway Patrol, an elderly woman traveling north on U.S.221S crossed the center line around 8 p.m. and struck another vehicle headlight to headlight, then spun and struck another vehicle head on.
The accident happened just north of Watertank Road near a private driveway. Trooper Miller said no alcohol was involved, and the investigation is continuing.
All four victims were transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Victims included Trivette Teaster, 54, of Mountain City, Tenn., Shana Roark, 35, of Ashe County, as well as the elderly woman and a young female who was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Miller would not release their names at press time due to respect for families who had not yet been notified.
The vehicles involved were a Subaru, a Chevy Impala and a Suzuki SUV. The vehicles were taken to Ashe County Motors and Bill's Garage. Fleetwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue was among the departments assisting at the accident. Trooper Miller was assisted by Trooper Walker and Sgt. Taylor.
