Four different Starmount players scored touchdowns, and the defense completely shut down the Ashe offense to pick up a 28-0 victory.

The win marked the 36th straight Mountain Valley Conference win for Starmount, and puts them in the driver’s seat for a sixth straight MVAC title.

Chastin Martin scored on a seven-yard run to put Starmount on the board just a little over three minutes into the game.

The Ashe defense ended the next Starmount drive with a nice interception from defensive back Michael Elliott. Unfortunately, the Ashe defense had to punt the ball away in three plays.

Starmount continued the offensive success with a 36-yard TD pass from quarterback Trey Money to wideout Will Lambert. The extra point made the score 14-0 with 3:09 left in the first quarter.

Ashe had a good scoring chance halfway through the second quarter, but a 25-yard field goal from Anthony Federico was a bit short.

The Rams quickly capitalized, scoring on a big 61-yard run from Will Simpson. The Rams took a 21-0 lead to the half.

Play resumed in the third quarter, but not the way Ashe had hoped. The Huskies fumbled a punt after a great defensive stand forced a three and out. The Rams would take over on the Husky 13-yard line.

Six plays later, quarterback Samuel Stone pounded the ball into the endzone with the quarterback sneak from one yard out. Starmount extended its lead to 28-0.

The Husky defense continued to play hard. Jonathan Cox picked off a pass from Stone in the endzone to end another Ram scoring threat. In the fourth quarter, Elliott grabbed his second takeaway of the evening, this time scooping up a fumbled punt.

With the loss, Ashe fell to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the MVAC.

This week, Ashe will host West Wilkes in what will be Homecoming Night.
