Mr. James Edward Revis Sr. of Nebo, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Sunrise Rehabilitation and Care following a period of declining health. He was 78

James retired from the A&P Grocery Store in West Jefferson where he worked for many years. He was always very active in many different sports and loved attending games and supporting athletics in any way he could.

He personally had a very competitive spirit which probably was the result of growing up in a large family. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church in Jefferson.

He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Kaye Brooks Revis; three children, Eddie Revis of Dysartsville, Greg Revis of Laurel Springs and Donna Revis of Nebo; eight brothers, Rev. Howard Revis, Charles Revis, Rev. Jonas Revis, Rev. Bobby Revis, Wiley Revis, Lester Revis, Ray Revis and Ray Lee Revis; five sisters, Gladys Shuford, Lois Pittman, Terry Lewis, Esther Daughtery and Grace Stafford; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Howard, Bobby and Jonas Revis officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Revis Family Cemetery.
