Ashe County finished off an undefeated conference slate of games with a 9-0 win over East Wilkes in the regular season finale last Thursday.

Cesar Ruiz scored first in the 13th minute, followed by a goal from Miguel Ramos in the 19th minute.

Ruiz netted his second of the contest in the 22nd minute to put the Cardinals in an early 3-0 hole.

The Huskies got two more goals in the first half. Frank Ledezma scored in the 35th minute, then Anthony Federico scored two minutes later to give Ashe a 5-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, most of the starters got a breather to rest up for playoff action. The offense still continued to possess the ball and score against the home team.

Trent Pruitt opened the half with a goal in the 48th minute. Austin Bennett followed that up with another Ashe tally just one minute later.

The two final Husky goals came in the 58th minute and 67th minute when Travis Stanley and Brayam Reyes each scored goals to end the game with the nine-goal mercy rule.

Ashe finished the regular season with a mark of 20-1-1 overall and 13-0-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

The conference champs will begin its playoff run with a home match against Central Davidson, currently scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m., weather permitting.
