Ralph Sidney Vaught of West Jefferson formally of Rural Retreat, Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. He was 84.


He was born in Rural Retreat, Va., on Dec. 26, 1927, the son of the late Samuel Vaught and Joan Walker Vaught Hoback.


He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Donnie, and David Vaught


He was a member of Charles Evering V.F.W. Post #6506 in Rosedale, Md.; American Legion #183 in Parkville, Md., and Jephthah Masonic Lodge #222 AF&AM in Baltimore, Md.; and had retired from Lockheed Martin.


He is survived by his wife, Diana Vaught of West Jefferson; daughters and sons-in-law, Monette and Mark Senter of Galax, Va., Yvonne and Niels Andersen of Raleigh; brothers and sisters-in-law Paul and Pat Vaught of Baltimore, Md., Douglas and Judy Vaught of Stewartstown, Pa., Gene Vaught of Baltimore, Md, Jack and Susan Hoback of Street, Md., Harvey and Pat Hoback of Baltimore, Md; sisters and brothers-in-law, Penny and Ed Peary of Fallston, Md., Barbara Vaught of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, William Sidney Senter, Jordan Drew Senter, Jackson Noah Oechsle and Celia Love Oechsle; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Lindsey Funeral Home with Wayne Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Church Cemetery.


The family will receive friends Saturday at the Lindsey Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
