A Tuesday morning collision on U.S. 221 in Fleetwood near “Twin Bridges” resulted in lengthy clean-up and investigation by the highway patrol and the Fleetwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Patrolman, first responders, and other authorities responded to the scene around 8 a.m. and worked through the duration of the morning sorting through the mangled damage. Around 10 a.m., a wrecker was escorting a damaged dump truck from the scene and a flatbed truck carried a damaged Toyota pick-up truck from the area.

Access to the scene was strictly limited and traffic was blocked off at the former Fleetwood Elementary School.
