The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office arrested eight individuals on several different charges, ranging from felony larceny to obtaining property by false pretense.
On Jan. 3, Thomas O’Brian Maxwell, 20, of West Jefferson was arrested and charged with misdemeanor larceny.
Also on Jan. 3, the ACSO arrested Marvin Ray Simcox, 25, of West Jefferson on charges of obtaining property by false pretense. Simcox was charged later on Jan. 9 with first degree rape of a child and first degree sexual offenses, stemming from another investigation.
On Jan. 7, Natasha Lynn Dunlap, 30, and Curt Anthony Carpenter, 43, both of Madison, N.C. were arrested and charged with felony larceny.
On Jan. 8, Kimberly Dawn Stephens, 27, of West Jefferson and Rickey Lee Ellison, 48, of Grassy Creek were charged with receiving stolen goods/property.
On Jan. 9, Lindsey Alisha Miller, 19, of Boone was charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
On Jan. 11, Gregory Dwayne Roten, 33, of Warrensville was charged with simulating an official court process.
No court dates or bond amounts were known as of press time.
