Wrestlers knock off Alleghany, 51-27

Ashe wrapped up the regular season with a 51-27 victory at Alleghany on Wednesday.

The Huskies picked up two forfeit victories in the 106 and 113-pound divisions with wins for Andrew Tedder and Jacob Weaver.

The 120-pound match went in Alleghany’s favor as Ty Franklin pinned Carter Calhoun at 3:04. That was the start of three straight wins for the Trojans. Josh Cochran pinned Wiley Dillard in 21 seconds at 126-pounds and Braxton Blevins beat Bodi Miller by a 16-4 major decision in the battle of 132-pounders.

Matthew Hamilton picked up a forfeit win at 138 pound, followed by Ashe’s fourth win of the night when 145-pound grappler Michael Elliott beat Justin Todd by a 7-1 decision.

The Huskies picked up wins in five of the last seven matches, all of them coming by forfeit. Joshua Hamilton (160), Lucas Miller (170), William Miller (182), Justin Scarborough (195) and Jake Woods (285) earned victories.

Alleghany got wins at 152 and 220-pounds. Kendric Pulliam beat Chase Conner by a 16-1 technical fall and Taylor Nester pinned Mitchell Brown at 3:55.

Ashe finished the season with a 17-11 overall record.
