The Fleetwood Volunteer Fire Department and N.C. Forest Services responded to several small brush fires earlier today.

The fires were reported near Phillips Gap Road, off Idlewild Road, approximately between 2:45 and 3:00 p.m., and were completely extinguished by 3:50.

The fires scorched about an acre of land before they were smothered, and didn’t cause any injuries or structural damage.
