Three Ashe County seniors were chosen to the 2012-2013 Mountain Valley Athletic Conference All-Conference/Honorable Mention teams.
Jordan Spell was the lone selection to the all-conference squad. Spell was Ashe’s leading scorer throughout this season, averaging just over nine points per game. The senior also averaged four rebounds per game, one steal and one blocked shot per contest.
Fellow seniors Eli Gambill and Seth Sheets received honorable mention recognition for their play this season. Gambill ended the season averaging 6.7 PPG and 3.8 RPG. Sheets was not a big scorer, but his defense and hustle were key all year long. He averaged just less than four points each time out, but was second on the team with 41 steals.
Elkin forward Sam Lane was named MVAC Player of the Year while his head coach Ken Abrams received the MVAC Coach of the Year award.
