Man in stable condition after truck accident
A local man is listed in good condition after he was involved in a truck accident Thurday morning at 9247 Old N.C. 16.
The man was identified as Jerry Dishman, 66, of West Jefferson, according to Sergeant Jim Cox, the N.C. State Trooper who responded to the accident.
Cox said Dishman looked to be in stable condition shortly after the accident. Dishman was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital by Blue Ridge Medical Transport to be treated for his injuries.
As of Friday, Dishman was still being treated at Ashe Memorial Hospital and was listed in good condition, according to Patty Faw, administrative assistant at AMH.
The accident occurred as Dishman was traveling northbound on Old Highway 16 in a 1994 Mack truck. According to Cox, Dishman drove off the left side of the road before sliding down an embankment.
“As to what caused him to go off the road, I do not know at this time,” said Cox.
Along with Blue Ridge Medical Transport and N.C. State Highway Patrol, New River Volunteer Fire and Rescue also responded to the accident.
