Betty Ruth Dillard Bledsoe, age 74, of Fleetwood, died Sunday evening, Oct. 25, 2009 at Margate Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. at Big Flatts Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Watson and the Rev. Bluferd Eldreth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family receivd friends from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Mrs. Bledsoe was born in Ashe County on Sunday, Nov. 18, 1934 to the late Ned Oconnell and Nancy Miller Dillard. She was an assembly worker at Sprague Electric.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Bledsoe, in February 1994, and a son, Jerry Thomas Bledsoe, in July 2004

She is survived by: two sons, Mike Bledsoe of Fleetwood and Robbie Bledsoe of Wilbar, NC; a brother, Clarence Dillard of Mocksville; two sisters, Nellie Vannoy of Winston-Salem and Georgie Hartzog, of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, Maria Holman and husband, Rodger, of West Jefferson, Misty Bledsoe of Fleetwood and April Lambert of Wilkesboro; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
