The game was a defensive struggle for the first 40 minutes of action as neither team could find the back of the net. With 17 minutes remaining in the first half, Ashe had its first scoring chance of the evening with a corner kick. However, the Blackhawk defense was able to move the ball out to neutral field. At the end of the first half, both teams were scoreless.
The second half opened up looking good for Ashe. The Huskies had an early shot on goal from Sky Fraze just 20 seconds into the half, but was unable to put it in for a goal.
With just under 23 minutes remaining in the half, the Lady Blackhawks would score its first goal of the night. The kick bounced off the fingertips of Mariah Richardson and settled in the back of the net.
Ashe continued to get chances inside the Blackhawk zone, but just could not get any good scoring chances at the net.
West Wilkes sealed the victory with a free kick late in stoppage time that once again sailed off the fingertips of Richardson just out of reach.
The Lady Huskies return to action Wednesday at Forbush, then again Friday with a home match against the Starmount Rams.
