Rhonal Charles Wilcox, age 80, of Lansing, died on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson.

Mr. Wilcox was born on Jan. 1, 1930 in Ashe County to the late Robert and Molly Davis Wilcox. He was preceded in death by father, mother and 13 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Wilcox loved to paint, go antiquing, woodworking and making people smile. He loved to attend church when his health allowed. He dearly loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Sturgills Baptist Church

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel & Gardens by the Rev. Dan Hess and the Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel & Gardens.

Mr. Wilcox is survived by: his wife, Frances Ham Wilcox; four daughters, Yegonda Mitchell of Lansing, Loretta Stephens of Kitty Hawk, NC, Sara Ashley of West Jefferson, and Melissa Little of Wilkesboro, NC; one son, Kelly Wilcox of Lansing; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
