Charles “Charlie” Clarence Ball passed away March 3, 2013, at Duke Medical Center, in Durham. He was 70.
Charlie was born May 6, 1942, in Lansing, the son of Carl and Mamie Sheets Ball.
Charlie retired after many years as a truck driver for Fed-EX Freight and Raheem Trucking. He worked multiple jobs to support his family through the years. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and always greeting friends and family with a smile and handshake. His devotion to his family is without end. A man with one mission in life, to be the provider.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his sisters, Elsie Ball Featherstone and Ilene Ball Howell; sister in law, Rhumell Ball, father and mother in law, Carl Horton Sr. and Virginia Crowder; and step mother, Lessie Bare Ball.
He is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, wife, Virginia Horton Ball; son, Carl Allen Ball of the home; daughter, Suzanne Ball Scoggins (Bobby) of McLeansville, granddaughter, Brittany Kyle Scoggins of McLeansville; four legged companion, Daisy Mae; brothers, Joe Ball (Betty), Ray Ball and Kyle Ball (Linda), all of West Jefferson; brothers in law, Gary Featherstone of Rapid City, S.D., and Everett Howell of Todd.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. Ohenry Blvd., Greensboro.
Friends will be received Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel, 515 N. Elm St., Greensboro.
