ASHE COUNTY —The results are in for this year’s “Outrageously” Good Customer Service awards which recognizes those who have gone above and beyond to deliver great service to customers, clients and coworkers in Ashe County.

Each year the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce receives nominations from chamber members and local residents for individuals and businesses they believe have the best customer service and can be considered the best of Ashe County.

The awards were presented during the “Outrageously” Good Customer Service Breakfast hosted by the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Boondocks Brew Haus in West Jefferson. The event was sponsored by SkyLine/SkyBest and many local community members and leaders attended including N.C. House Rep. Jonathan Jordan.

Individuals who were recognized for Outrageously” Good Customer Service included Ann Miller, Miranda Hartsoe and Teresa Houser of Social Work/ Patient Advocacy at Ashe Memorial Hospital, Ken Brashear of Ashe Computer Services, Lisa Morris of Ingles Market and Paula Harrington of The Hotel Tavern.

The Chamber of Commerce also recognized three departments at Ashe Memorial Hospital (AMH) including: AMH Medical and Surgical Unit (Brandi Olive, Angie LaCroix, Becky Little, Casy Sabastian and Ruth Eller); AMH Labor and Delivery Unit (Terry Williams, Melissa Lewis, David Barlow, Beth Blevins, Kelly Greene and Teresa Roten); AMH Emergency Department (Kina Jones, Robert Powers, Carol Roten, Kayla Lewis and Jeremy Spencer).

Go Postal was selected out of the “Outrageously” Good Customer Service award business category.

Ashe County Chamber of Commerce board member Scott Ballard read an excerpt from a nomination letter submitted for Go Postal that read:

“This business has not only met, but exceeded all my expectations with supporting our market efforts. We’re very fortunate to have a business like this with the creativity and the capabilities that this company possesses. They do the difficult projects on very short notice, the impossible projects take just a little bit longer.”

According to Go Postal manager Deb Caine, it’s their customers who make winning an award like this possible.

“If it weren’t for our customers we wouldn’t have this,” Caine said. “It’s great to work here. You could never do this anywhere but in Ashe County. We have the best customers in the whole world.”

Go Postal handles printing, graphic design, packing and shipping among other services. Caine said customers often come in with problems that she and her staff must work to quickly solve.

“People come in with problems we fix, and its wonderful,” Caine said. “If we can’t find a solution in our store, we’ll find you a solution somewhere else, that’s our service. If we don’t have it, we can find someone who does.”

Caine was present at the event with her two employees Shalamar Blevins and Zac Graves.

“They are the best staff,” Caine said. “We could not do it if we were not such a great team.”

Other businesses that were nominated include Peoples Drug Store, Ashe Services for Aging, Boondocks Restaurant, Carolina Country Wines, Go Postal, Jefferson Drug Store and Mountaineer Cleaners.
