Ashe County wreck report

ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between Nov. 15 and Nov. 21 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Nov. 16

1:39 p.m.

Lansing

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 194 about two miles from Lansing. According to the narrative, David Pell Bower of Fleetwood was stopped to make a left turn when a vehicle driven by Vivian Reedy Osborne of Jefferson struck Bower’s vehicle in the rear.

Both drivers were uninjured.

Osborne’s 2008 Subaru had about $4,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Bower’s 2002 Honda had about $2,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Osborne was cited for failure to reduce speed.

8:46 p.m.

Creston

An animal collision happened on Big Laurel Road near Creston. According to the narrative, Casey Wayne Ham of Mountain City, Tennessee was traveling north when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Ham was uninjured.

The 2002 Dodge involved had an estimated $3,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Nov. 17

7:29 p.m.

Highway 194

An animal collision happened on Highway 194 about six miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Donya Evelyn Price Graham of Lansing was traveling north when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Graham was uninjured.

The 2008 Toyota involved had approximately $2,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Nov. 18

8:19 a.m.

West Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident took place on Nettle Knob Road about 3.5 miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Shaina Carolyn Edwards Dillard of West Jefferson was traveling east. Dillard was traveling too fast for the wet roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled left of center and off the road. The vehicle then struck a bridge support and drove into the creek.

Dillard refused medical transport.

The 2003 Toyota involved had an estimated $6,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

The bridge had about $1,000 in damages.

Dillard was cited for exceeding safe speeds.

11:54 a.m.

Jefferson

A parking lot collision happened at Ashe Medical Associates in Jefferson. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Andrew Ryan Smith of Statesville, North Carolina was parked behind a vehicle driven by James Fred Johnson of Lansing. Johnson was backing up from his parking spot and collided with Smith’s vehicle.

Both drivers were uninjured.

Johnson’s 1997 Honda had about $100 in damages and was considered drivable.

Smith’s 2014 Lexus had about $1,500 in damages and was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

2:18 p.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident occurred on W. Deep Ford Road about 6.5 miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Meng Richardson of Lansing was attempting a right turn onto W. Deep Ford Road from Highway 194. Richardson turned into the lane left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Robert Dean Miller of Lansing that was traveling east.

Both drivers were uninjured.

Richardson’s 2003 Mazda had about $5,800 in damages but was considered drivable.

Miller’s 1988 GMC had about $1,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Richardson was cited for driving left of center.

6:22 p.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 about six miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Alexis Pena Quintana of Miami, Florida was traveling south in a tractor and trailer. Quintana’s vehicle traveled left of center and sideswiped a vehicle driven by Stacy Lynn Flanagan of Jefferson.

Both drivers and a passenger, Vickie Flanagan of Jefferson, were uninjured.

Quintana’s 2006 Freightliner had about $100 in damages but was considered drivable.

Flanagan’s 2006 Ford had an estimated $2,800 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Quintana was cited for driving left of center.

8:29 p.m.

Highway 221

A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 near the Watauga County line. According to the narrative, Logan Taylor Hallock of Ferguson, North Carolina was traveling north when the vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a ditch.

Hallock was uninjured.

The 2005 Hyundai involved had about $500 in damages but was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

Nov. 21

8:34 p.m.

Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 221 about two miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Allen Richard Bowers of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, was traveling north when his vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Bowers was uninjured.

The 2005 Toyota involved had an estimated $2,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.
