WEST JEFFERSON-Two drivers were transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital following a two car collision Tuesday evening.

That’s according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s Trooper SL Staley who said the accident occurred at the intersection of US-221 and Campus Drive near Ashe County High School.

Staley said the wreck happened shortly before 6 p.m. The driver of a white Toyota Tacoma attempted to make a right hand turn onto US-221 from Campus Drive toward Jefferson. The driver never completed the turn, Staley said, and collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck, which was traveling south on US-221.

West Jefferson Police, Ashe County Sheriff’s Office and the West Jefferson Fire Department responded to the wreck.

The identities and conditions of the two drivers have not been released. The Jefferson Post will update with that information when it becomes available.
