JEFFERSON — One person was transported with non life threatening injuries after a Chrysler Minivan flipped 40-feet down an embankment off of Earl Sheets Road shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

According to North Carolina State Trooper Denny Parunak, James Utley was driving with two other passengers when he came around a curve and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go down the embankment into the creek below.

Parunak said Utley and one passenger refused to be transported and that speed is being considered as a possible factor in the accident.

Ashe Medics and Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident.
