Ashe County wreck report

ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between Dec. 13 and Dec. 23 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Dec. 17

8:49 a.m.

Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Frank Dillard Road about four miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, John Thomas Ball of Grassy Creek was traveling south when the vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a tree.

Ball was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.

The 2006 Dodge involved had about $6,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Ball was cited for a lane control violation.

8:05 p.m.

Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 16 about two miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Betty Ann Barker of Jefferson was traveling south when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Barker was uninjured.

The 2007 Nissan involved had about $900 in damages but was considered drivable.

8:58 p.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 88 about a mile from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Lisa Calhoun Biondi of Jefferson was traveling west when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Biondi was uninjured.

The 2004 Chrysler involved had an estimated $2,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

9:30 p.m.

Glendale Springs

An animal collision happened on Highway 16 near the intersection of Highway 163. According to the narrative, Mary Jo Ball of West Jefferson was traveling south when her vehicle struck a deer that was crossing the road.

Ball was uninjured.

The 2005 Toyota involved had an estimated $3,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

9:49 p.m.

Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 88 about six miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, William Wayne Caudill Jr. of Laurel Springs was traveling west when he struck a deer that entered the road.

Caudill was uninjured.

The 2002 Nissan involved had approximately $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Dec. 18

12:12 p.m.

West Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident took place on Highway 221 about two miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Christopher Dale Honeycutt of Todd was traveling north when he stated that his vehicle ran over some gravel in the road which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled left of center and off the road to the left. The vehicle then hit a guardrail and continued on until Honeycutt moved the vehicle to the parking lot of Westwood Elementary School.

Honeycutt was uninjured.

The 2006 Lincoln had about $7,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Honeycutt was cited for a lane control violation.

12:50 p.m.

Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Flat Rock Acres Road about four miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Bridget Graham Winn of Grassy Creek was traveling north when the vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a tree.

Winn was uninjured.

The 2014 Honda involved had about $2,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

1:54 p.m.

Warrensville

A two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 88 near Warrensville. According to the narrative, Richard Bryan Lail of Catawba was traveling west and an unknown driver was traveling east. Lail stated that the driver of the other vehicle sideswiped his mirror. Lail traveled on to Trade, Tennessee to report the accident and later returned to the Warrensville Fire Department to file a report. The other driver continued on.

Lail was uninjured.

The 2013 Chevrolet involved had about $50 in damages and was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

7:26 p.m.

West Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Baldwin Road about two miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Travis Eugene Wallace of West Jefferson was traveling north when the vehicle hit some ice and traveled across the center line and off the left shoulder. The vehicle struck some landscaping at the home of John Fash of West Jefferson before coming to a stop. Wallace was advised to go to his residence and wait on law enforcement due to the weather conditions.

Wallace was uninjured.

The 1998 Ford involved had an estimated $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

The damages to the landscaping were estimated at $500.

No citations were issued.

Dec. 19

4:57 a.m.

West Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 about six miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Robert Gene Perry of Wilkesboro was traveling north when his vehicle was struck by a fallen tree.

Perry was uninjured.

The 2016 Chevrolet involved had approximately $2,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

8:30 p.m.

Creston

An animal collision happened on Big Laurel Road near Creston. According to the narrative, Jonathan Caitlin Price of Creston was traveling west when the vehicle struck a bull that had walked into the road.

Price was uninjured.

The 2006 Subaru involved had an estimated $4,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Dec. 21

7:24 a.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 221 less than a mile from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, James Ray Blevins Jr. of Lansing was traveling north when he struck a deer in the road.

Blevins was uninjured.

The 2011 Subaru involved had about $1,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

11:50 a.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 16 about three miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Gary Wilton Kearney of Hamptonville was traveling south in front of a vehicle driven by Jacob Alexander Williams of Grassy Creek. Kearney pulled off the road into the private drive of Shatley Mobile Home Park. Kearney then attempted to make a left turn back onto Highway 16 and struck Williams’ vehicle.

Both drivers were uninjured.

Kearney’s 2003 Mitsubishi had about $3,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Williams’ 2002 Ford had about $3,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued according to the report.

Dec. 22

3:42 p.m.

Warrensville

A two-vehicle collision happened in the parking lot of Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission in Warrensville. According to the narrative, Kimberly Rae Blevins of Lansing was attempting to back out of a parking spot when the vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Fred Junior Greer of Fleetwood.

Blevins and one passenger, Elizabeth Edwards of Whitetop, Virginia, were uninjured.

Blevins’ 1999 Dodge had about $75 in damages.

Greer’s 1997 Subaru had about $500 in damages.

Blevins was cited for a safe movement violation.

Dec. 23

4:57 p.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 88 about three miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Lynze Marie Snyder of Mountain City, Tennessee was stopped at the intersection of Stanley Drive and Highway 88. Snyder started turning onto Highway 88 but did not see the vehicle driven by Damon Dwight Brooks of Warrensville. The two vehicles collided at the intersection and came to a stop.

Both drivers and one passenger, Gary Mahala of Creston, were uninjured.

Snyder’s 2002 Ford had an estimated $4,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Brooks’ 2014 Ford had about $7,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Snyder was cited for driving without a license and failure to yield.
