ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between Feb. 14 and Feb. 20 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Feb. 14

3:29 p.m.

Three Top Road

A single-vehicle accident happened on Three Top Road near the intersection of Highway 194. According to the narrative, Carolina Leigh Norman of Todd was traveling east when the driver lost control of her vehicle due to snow and ice on the road. The vehicle ran off the road to the right and overturned down an embankment.

Norman was uninjured.

The 2005 Pontiac involved had an estimated $1,800 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

Feb. 15

11:11 a.m.

Lansing

A single-vehicle accident happened on Big Horse Creek Road about four miles from Lansing. According to the narrative, Diane Lee Hinck of Lansing was traveling south when the vehicle ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned. According to the report, there was approximately five inches of snow on the road.

Hinck was uninjured.

The 2006 Hummer had about $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

6:37 p.m.

Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 88 about four miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Casey Wade Caudill of Laurel Springs was traveling west when the vehicle hit some ice on the road, crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left into a ditch.

Caudill was uninjured.

The 1995 Jeep involved had approximately $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

9:38 p.m.

Jefferson

A single-vehicle accident happened on Frank Dillard Road about four miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Chaysen Blake Conner of Jefferson was traveling south when the vehicle hit some ice on the road, ran off the right side of the road and overturned before coming to a rest on its top.

Conner was uninjured.

The 1994 Toyota involved had an estimated $900 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

10:24 p.m.

Fleetwood

A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 near Water Tank Road in Fleetwood. According to the narrative, Sandra Lynn Johnson of West Jefferson was traveling north when the vehicle hit some ice, ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Johnson was transported to Watauga Medical Center.

The 2006 Chevrolet involved had about $8,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

Feb. 16

3:35 a.m.

West Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Baldwin Road about four miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Larry Frank Harless of West Jefferson was traveling south when the vehicle crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left and struck a parked car, owned by Marty Ray Jewell of Fleetwood.

Harless was uninjured.

Harless’ 2002 Toyota had about $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Jewell’s 1992 Dodge had about $3,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Harless was cited for exceeding safe speed.

11:06 a.m.

Fleetwood

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 near Idlewild Road. According to the narrative, Mario Hernandez Santos of Warrensville was stopped behind a car that was waiting to turn left onto Idlewild Road. A vehicle driven by Neil Earl Watson of Smithfield, North Carolina could not slow down in time and struck the rear of Santos’ vehicle.

Both drivers and one passenger, Paul Conley Embler Jr. of Smithfield, were uninjured.

Santos’ 1998 Isuzu had about $3,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Watson’s 1999 Chevrolet had about $4,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Santos was cited for driving without a license.

Watson was cited for failure to reduce speed.

Feb. 18

10:50 p.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 163 about six miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, John Davis Ellis of West Jefferson was traveling south when the vehicle hit a deer that ran into the road.

Ellis was uninjured.

The 2015 Toyota involved had about $4,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Feb. 20

10:02 a.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 less than a mile from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Heather Allyn Bunch of Marion, Virginia was turning right onto Highway 221 from Highway 16 when Dominick Joseph Mongiove of Crumpler struck Bunch’s vehicle in the rear.

Both drivers and one passenger, Bernard Gardner of Marion, were uninjured.

Mongiove’s 2005 Ford had approximately $500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Bunch’s 2010 Toyota had about $800 in damages but was considered drivable.

Mongiove was cited for failure to reduce speed.
