James Jordan sentenced in sex crimes case

JEFFERSON-An Ashe County man received a lengthy prison sentence following the conclusion of Ashe County Superior Court last week.

James Allen Jordan, 38, was sentenced to 25 to 35 years in the North Carolina Department of Corrections for felonious rape of a child by an adult.

According to Capt. Carolyn Gentry, Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Investigator for the Ashe County Sheriff’s department, Jordan was initially arrested in January 2014. He was living in Fleetwood at the time of his arrest.

At that time, a domestic violence investigation ultimately led to his arrest, said Gentry.

Jordan had previous domestic violence issues, said the ACSO.
