Ashe students shine at Wilkes Community College



WILKESBORO-More than 30 Ashe County students will take that big walk across the stage at Wilkes Community College on May 13.

At least 32 local students will graduate with a two year associate’s degree at the John A. Walker Community Center, and dozens more have earned diplomas and certificates in everything from advertising and graphic design to dental assisting and horticulture technology.

The Health Sciences Division and Industrial and Workforce Development Division graduation ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. while the Arts and Sciences Division and the Business and Public Service Technologies Division will begin their long walk at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be required for admission. Graduates have received their allotments of admission tickets. Members of the public may view the graduation ceremonies through a live stream. Access the live stream from www.wilkescc.edu/Graduation.

Presenters for the program include Dr. Jeff Cox, president of Wilkes Community College; Mr. Richard B. Johnston, Jr., chairperson of the Board of Trustees; and Ms. Deysi Govea, president of the Student Government Association. The presentation of candidates will be made by Blair Hancock, vice-president of Instruction.

Following the ceremony, a reception will be held in the Lakey Ballroom for graduates, faculty, staff and guests.
