ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between April 24 and April 30 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.
A single-vehicle accident happened on Friendship Baptist Church Road about three miles from Jefferson. According to the narrative, Richard Bethea Greene of Jefferson was traveling west when the vehicle ran off the road to the right, struck a mailbox, a concrete culvert and then a tree.
Greene was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.
The 2000 Toyota involved had about $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.
The mailbox belonging to Mike Little of Jefferson had about $500 in damages.
Greene was cited for failure to maintain lane control and driving without a license.
An animal collision happened on George McMillan Road in Crumpler. According to the narrative, Mark Anthony Stanley of Warrensville was traveling north when the vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.
Stanley was uninjured.
The 2014 Ford involved had approximately $1,800 in damages but was considered drivable.
A single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 about six miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Scott Manuel Ellsworth of Jefferson was traveling north. Ellsworth stated that he swerved to miss a deer and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle ran off the road to the right and up an embankment before striking a ditch and coming to a stop in the ditch.
Ellsworth was uninjured.
The 2002 Pontiac involved had an estimated $2,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.
No citations were issued.
