Former App State coach Jerry Moore coming to Ashe County

WEST JEFFERSON-Legendary former Appalachian State Coach Jerry Moore is coming to Ashe County County and, because of some significant donations, the entire event—including a catered meal (while it lasts) and child care is free and open to all regardless of party affiliation.

The event, put on by the Ashe County GOP, will be at Ashe County High School on Saturday, June 25th at 6pm.

Jerry Moore, who regularly speaks all over the United States, is expected to give an inspirational talk delivered in his trademark homespun “awe shucks” Texas accent.

Moore, the winningest coach in App State history, is best known for orchestrating the biggest upset in college football history by traveling to the Big House at the University of Michigan and defeating the #5 ranked Wolverines 34-32.

“In times like these, Jerry Moore will be like a breath of fresh air,” Ashe GOP chairman David Desautels said.

“I’m proud of State Rep. Jonathan Jordan, State Senator Deanna Ballard, Ashe Clerk of Court Pam Barlow, Ashe County Commissioner Gary Roark and several private individuals who’ve financially stepped up to the plate to put this on for all the people in Ashe County,” Desautels said.

Kids, and particularly those boys and girls who play sports of any kind, (and their parents and coaches) are encouraged to show up at 5 for a special time of autographs and fellowship with Coach Moore.
