ATV rider crashes on Copeland Road

WARRENSVILLE-An elderly man involved in an all terrain vehicle accident Tuesday was treated at Ashe Memorial Hospital before being transported to another facility.

Dillard W. Jones, 90, of Warrensville, rolled off the shoulder of a graveled section of Copeland Road in Warrensville Tuesday afternoon, according to statements made by the North Carolina Highway Patrol to local media.

The accident occurred sometime before 12:25 p.m. July 12, according to a dispatch call broadcast by Ashe County Communications. Jones, riding an ATV, went down a small embankment and landed in a small creek just off the side of Copeland Road.

AMH personnel said Wednesday Jones was treated at the hospital and had been listed in stable condition before being transferred off-site.
